This Week In Retrospect

This week can be summed up in one word: freezing. I’m used to very cold winters but the whole week the temperature was struggling to get above 0 degrees. I won’t complain too much though since that would make me a hypocrite because I’m always talking about how much I love winter. Being honest though I’ve been daydreaming about summer a lot more than usual lately.

Anyways, I’m going to start making “week in review” posts because they’re fun and then I can remember memories that I’ve made! So here is an overview of my not too fascinating but pretty fun week!

This week begins with Valentine’s Day! If you’ve been reading this blog for a while then you probably know how much I love this holiday. It’s my absolute favorite andΒ I love it’s whole premise. A holiday celebrating love what could be more happy than that? I know a lot of people say it’s commercialized and all but I think it’s really nice to have a day to appreciate your friends and family and it’s a very joyful holiday. Usually my valentines are my friends, family, my dog and chocolate but this year I spent it with my wonderful boyfriend, Dave. We cooked dinner which is not an easy task for us but we chose to make the easiest dish possible and it was pretty tasty! And our side was just a bag of baby carrots but hey, who doesn’t love those? I created a food board on Pinterest the other day though so I’m going to try to become better at cooking, at least before I go off to college. Then we watched the movie Valentine’s Day since it may be one of my favorite movies ever. If you haven’t watched it I seriously recommend it, it is completely adorable! This was definitely the best Valentine’s Day yet!

We of course spent a lot of time at Starbucks this week because Starbucks is always a good time. I mean have you ever seen a sad person at Starbucks? You can’t be sad when you have delicious lattes and cookies and cake pops!

I’ve been obsessed with smoothies lately because they are so delicious and really good for you. I made this one a couple days ago with spinach, almond/coconut milk, frozen blueberries, strawberries, and a little bit of antioxidant powder and it was amazing!

These photos are from the Shirt Factory Cafe in Medina. I love this place and will probably show pictures from it quite often. Anyways this smoothie was called “the tropics” and I don’t remember specifically what it had in it but it was very citrus-y and tasted like summer! It was a great post-workout smoothie since it was healthy but still very sweet since it has so many fruits in it. Also am I the only one who still orders cold drinks in the winter? Because everyone makes fun of mye for it but I think those kinds of drinks are good all year round… just wear gloves and you’re fine.

A sunny photo of my dog because she’s so cute and I love her.

Last but not least tonight is the Oscars and you know what that means? Oscar party! Haha yes I got dressed up to watch the Oscars. I swear it enhances the experience! Anyways this year I’ve actually seen a few of the movies up for nominations! I’ve seen Interstellar which didn’t get nominated for anything big but I personally loved it. I also watched The Theory of Everything which was a really great movie and Eddie Redmayne was amazing in it so hopefully he wins something. As far as red carpet looks go, I adored Zoe Saldana, Sienna Miller, Keira Knightly. They looked stunning and they top my best dressed list. And my best dressed pick for guys is David Oyelowo. I think his burgundy suit was a great pick and very classic and unique. The above photo is the desert I made. I didn’t really make anything I just added strawberries to a blueberry greek yogurt but I put it in a fancy dish so shh you can’t even tell.

Love, Francesca

seemed like a long post when I first looked at it but when I started reading it was over before I noticed it! πŸ™‚ I really like that kind of reflective posts because they contain so many different topics: smoothies, dogs, holidays, weather, cafes, films… such a long list! I also love smoothies and dogs but I don’t love winter, not my season at all. by the way, when I think about all those delicious smoothies you shared I feel super hungry! okay, the pasta makes me hungry too, haha πŸ˜€

Haha I like writing these kind of posts, they’re really fun. I’m glad you liked it! And I understand why you don’t like winter, it gets very tedious.

I also like Starbucks or any other of those famous cafe shops…. Good luck with your cooking, I am sure you’ll be a great cook if you choose so.

Haha I actually occasionally spot a bunch of “sad” students in starbucks when its thesis season. It’s funny tho, cause you know that they are really stressed by the amount of things they bring in the cafe… a personal wify hotspot thing, blanket, a small “U” pillow, multiple laptops, lots of books, notes, and at least two other students who’s going through the same thing for moral support πŸ˜€
did you see the idina face touch moment at the oscars? hahaha

I love the last photo of you – it’s very cute. The last couple of weeks, every time I log onto Flickr, there’s a picture of a random girl as a recommended post for me – somehow she reminds me of you a lot πŸ™‚ and everything you said about winter and waiting for summer in this post – it was like reading my own thoughts…

I love all seasons, but we get very long winters up here North so I’m looking forward to some sunnier spring days now in March. It’s also the month of my birthday so I like to think it’s the beginning of spring, when everything and everyone are reborn. You two look absolutely super cute together! All those smoothies look really good, and I love cafΓ©s! It’s such a nice idea to have an Oscar party, too bad we can’t do it here since the time difference. Thanks for stopping by my blog Francesca!

Cute photos.=) I hope winter is over soon. We’ve actually gotten some spring flower around here but it’s just march so I’m pretty sure we will get more snow again. Winter is usually long here.

Francesca! I swore I commented on your return post, but I guess it didn’t go through since I can’t find it there! Ah, technical difficulties. Anyways, you have no idea how happy I was so see you back–I’d been checking every now and then since you left. But I definitely understand the “falling out of love with blogging”–it’s a fickle hobby, if you know what I mean. And life is really important too!

I never responded to your email because I thought I’d respond in a comment but we clearly see how that went haha. College is great but crazy! How is your search going?

I’m loving your new approach to blogging–I also have been talking more life since I think it makes it more meaningful. Your smoothies look delicious and I’m so happy you had a good week. Those landscape shots are also so beautiful!
