Born With Glitter In My Veins

“In a gentle way you can shake the world.” Ghandi

You know that moment when you think you’ve finally figured out the answer to “what do you want to be when you grow up” ? As a soon-to-be junior in high school, obviously this could change, but I had the “epiphany” about a month ago. I’ve wanted to be a meteorologist, lawyer, yoga teacher, cafe owner, and many more things in the past, but I think I found a career that I would really love. Being a Journalist.

This blog has really helped me to figure out what I’m passionate about, and I truly adore fashion, and writing. My dream job would be writing for Vogue, or maybe an anchor on the Today Show. I dream big. πŸ™‚

{Wearing; Juicy Couture jacket, vintage denim dress, vintage belt, scarf from The Flower Barn, dreamcatcher earrings, bracelet, wristlet from Target, Accessorize flats}

Thrift shopping is one of my absolute favorite types of shopping, as I’ve probably mentioned a bigillion times. The unique, adorable pieces you find are so cute and usually have very low prices! I purchased this dress and belt at a yard sale the other day for 2 dollars. It doesn’t get much better than that, people.

The most important thing to remember when you’re thrifting is to be open. Picture what outfits you could wear it with, and how you would style it. This helps me a lot, picturing how I would wear it. Also, don’t discard an item because you think it’s too “weird” because some of my favorite pieces I’ve gotten thrift shopping have been a little weird, whether it’s a bold print or a bizzare cut, they can be really cute. And my final tip is that most everything looks good with a pair of skinnes and flats, or a high-waisted skirt!

That’s basically my style rule for everything, if you can’t figure out an outfit, you can never go wrong with a pretty top, comfy skinny jeans, and ballet flats. Or a dress and jacket. Or a button down and high-waisted skirt.

Love, Francesca

I wish we had more thrifting opportunities where I live… The dress looks amazing. And you’ve found your calling! I think that it would be a great path because it opens up so many possibilities and you can still choose particular subjects to specialize in, if you want to.

I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut. But of course, that never happened. I love the dress you got! Thrift shops are the perfect place to look for denim pieces. I also got a denim dress myself last month. But it’s always a hit and miss for me. For every 5 pieces I get, I only end up actually wearing 2. hahaha!

    • August 12, 2013 / 10:55 pm

Astronaut sounds like fun! They are the perfect place for denim! And very true, I’ve bought so many things I’ve never worn…maybe someday? πŸ™‚

You look adorable. Love the cute dress and the jacket. Why wouldn’t you dream big. To become a journalist is an awesome idea. You definitely have the skills that it takes. Are you sure you want to work for the Vogue. Haven’t you seen the Devil wears Prada? I wouldn’t want to work for Anna Wintour πŸ˜€

Aww thanks Mira! Haha very true, the Devil Wears Prada is kind of scary, but it still looks a little fun!

Thank you for your work in this. Yes, while imagined constitutional rights are the means by which this agenda is spread, what I’m pointing out is that there is another right, just as conttitusional, being removed. I’m hoping that pointing this out will wake folks up.

  19. August 15, 2013 / 12:34 am

Looking so pretty, as always! I can definitely see all your dreams coming true for you! You are so incredibly stylish and ambitious for someone your age- it’s very admirable. I have wanted to be so many things. I would love something in the journalism field as well as fashion (although in my experience, fashion-related things tend to have some snobby people working in them haha but I guess that’s everywhere). Most recently, I’ve my heart on working behind the scenes at a TV, movie, or music studio. I don’t know what I’ll end up with but I know one thing has never changed: I’ve always wanted to work in the entertainment industry. πŸ™‚

Also, great shopping tips. I feel so, so good whenever I find amazing pieces for even more amazing prices. I really don’t like to buy new stuff unless I really have to because most used things are just as good.

    • August 15, 2013 / 6:32 pm

Thanks Victoria! Yes, people can be snobby but I guess you just have to put up with it! Working at a tv studio sounds like so much fun!! You will be very good at whatever you choose, I know! Finding great items at great prices is the best feeling! I agree, thrift shopping is pretty much my favorite thing! πŸ™‚
